1825 - Improved swiss escapement
Back to Timeline
Georges Auguste Leschot (1800-1884) breathed new life into classic lever escapement (for portable watches) invented in 1757 by Thomas Mudge. The introduced improvements were successful because Swiss lever escapement proved to be robust, reliable, relatively easy to produce and allows high-precision adjustment.
