Astrolon watches are the work of designers and constructors at Tissot Watch Company. Research and development work related to the use of plastics in the construction of movements began as early as 1952. First movement was presented to the world in 1971 at the Swiss Watch Fair.
The revolutionary ASTROLON had many innovative solutions: the straps and cases of some timepieces were made of synthetic materials - many of these watches were partly or completely transparent - and their movements contained parts made almost exclusively of plastics. The innovative Tissot 2250 Autolub had reduced the number of parts from 91 in standard Swiss mechanisms to 52!
