2011 - Unique shape of oscillator and modified geometry escapement
Back to Timeline
Oscillomax® Patek Philippe is a set of elements consisting of balance (GyromaxSI®), escapement (Pulsomax®) and hair spring (Spiromax®). They are made in a technology in which silicon (Silnivar®) is ionically pickled in the DRIE process (Deep Reactive Ion Etching).
Oscillomax® the set of three components protect 17 patents. The main advantages are increased accuracy in terms of both mechanical and accuracy of time measurement, resistance to magnetic fields, higher precision of components, improved sliding properties due to lack of lubrication, and thus prolonged service intervals.
GyromaxSI - balance oscillator with 24K gold components:
Pulsomax - titanium-based escapement:
Spiromax - balance spring:
The first mechanism to use all of these solutions was the 240 Q Si caliber in the limited watch ref. 5550 P with perpetuall calendar, presented in 2011.
